KINTO Minami is a Japanese visual artist specializing in sewing. Her practice begins with collecting discarded textiles, fabrics, and fragments of past narratives and customs. Born in 1988 in Tokushima, Japan, she lives and works in Tokyo. The artist received her BFA in painting from Joshibi University of Art and Design, Kanagawa, Japan, in 2011, and her MA in painting from Tama Art University, Tokyo, Japan, in 2013. The artist has participated in numerous international exhibitions, projects, and site-specific installations, including the 37th Imadate Contemporary Art Paper Exhibition, Udatsu Paper & Craft Museum, Fukui, Japan (2025); the 2025 Nature Art Cube Exhibition, Geumgang Nature Art Biennale, Chungcheongnam-do, Republic of Korea; Hirono Artist-in-Residence “Pinetree of Sunrise” Exhibition, Hirono Miraikan, Fukushima, Japan (2025); VOCA Exhibition, Ueno Royal Museum of Art, Tokyo, Japan (2023); Shikoku Pilgrimage of Art Exhibition: Yamanami Art Festival, Shionoe Museum of Art, Kagawa, Japan (2022); Shikoku Pilgrimage of Art Exhibition, Gallery Live Art, Ehime, Japan (2022); and Shikoku Pilgrimage of Art Exhibition, Straw Craft Museum, Kochi, Japan (2022).
