Mask jumping

KINTO Minami performance document. “Mask jumping” 2014 at The League Residency at VYT in New York, U.S. This is an artwork created by a Japanese artist. Four performers dance together in a forest. They come from different countries: two from America, one from France, and one from Japan. The Japanese performer is in the center. He wears a red mask covered with many feathers. The other three performers also wear colorful masks with feathers. The colors are very bright and bold. However, their movements are very slow and relaxed. Their bodies hang and sway gently, almost like they are very tired. Even though the masks are exciting and colorful, the dancing feels calm and dreamy. Because we cannot see their faces, we use our imagination. We think about what they are feeling and what they mean. That is the interesting part of this artwork.
